Relapse—whether emotional, sexual, or behavioral—often plunges betrayed spouses back into crisis. In these moments, their ability to think clearly, regulate emotionally, and make sound decisions becomes deeply compromised. This workshop introduces an experiential tool that equips professionals to help clients create a personalized Relapse Response Plan—a structured, trauma-informed guide clients build when they are grounded, regulated, and thinking with full access to their executive functioning.
Purpose: The goal is to give betrayed spouses a sense of agency and safety before another crisis occurs. By building a plan in advance, they reduce the number of decisions they must make in a dysregulated state, protecting their nervous system, strengthening boundaries, and supporting healthier relational choices.

Lyschel Burket, PCC, FRLC, APSATS-CPC, ADOH, CDG-c, CMC, is the Lead Hope Caster and Founder of Hope Redefined, which provides a comprehensive support system for women, offering online support groups, individual and triad coaching, intensive retreats, and a private social media platform. Lyschel knows all too well the isolation, shame, fear, and trauma that betrayal causes, and since 2008, she has been helping women navigate the road of betrayal and sexual infidelity, walking with them toward a place of hope and restoration. Additionally, Lyschel serves betrayed partners through her work as an APSATS board member and as a co-founder and co-host of the Hope For Wives Podcast. Most recently, Lyschel has been collaborating with Dr. Barbara Steffens to develop Shepherding Through Crisis, a faith-rooted, trauma-informed training that equips ministry and faith leaders to care wisely and compassionately for their community members impacted by betrayal.
