About me

-- Helping You Heal the Hurt and Rekindle Connection --
A relational approach to betrayal, intimacy, and everything in between.

In-Person or TeleHealth in Alabama
TeleHealth in Florida

If you've landed on this page, chances are your world has been turned upside down. Maybe you're feeling confused, overwhelmed, or numb—trying to make sense of a discovery that shattered what you thought you knew about your relationship. Maybe you're searching for answers, for support, for someone who understands what it's like to sit in the rubble and not know where to turn next.

I want you to know: you are not alone—and there is a way forward.

About Me
I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor based in Birmingham, Alabama. I specialize in helping individuals, couples, and families heal from the traumatic impact of sexual betrayal and addiction. I bring both professional expertise and personal experience—having walked my own recovery journey over 20 years ago.

My husband, Tal, and I have lived through our own story of betrayal, addiction, and deep healing. We now work side-by-side to help others find clarity, rebuild safety, and restore intimacy—not by sweeping the past under the rug, but by facing it honestly and building something better.

-- My Approach: Trauma-Responsive, Relational, and Fully Partner-Sensitive --

I believe relational trauma requires relational healing. You will never hear me say that betrayal trauma is co-addiction. I don't treat betrayed partners as broken, dramatic, or enabling. I treat you as someone whose pain makes sense—someone who deserves validation, clarity, and safety as you decide what comes next.

Whether you're in early discovery, preparing for disclosure, co-parenting after betrayal, or uncertain if you want to stay in the relationship, I meet you with deep compassion and clinical expertise. Your healing begins with your voice, your boundaries, and your truth. From that place, everything else becomes more clear.

When working with couples, I integrate multiple modalities including:

• The Gottman Method (Certified Therapist)
• Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT, Advanced Core Skills)
• Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy (PACT, Level 2)
• Early Recovery Couples Empathy Model (ERCEM, Certified)
• Sexual Wholeness (Associate Sex Therapist trained in sexual trauma, abuse, disorders, and creating sexual health and wholeness)

These models allow me to combine structure, neuroscience, and heart—so couples can move from devastation to deeper connection without bypassing pain or rushing the process.

-- Specialties & Services --

I offer individual, couples, and intensive therapy—in-person and virtually.

As both a Certified Clinical Partner Specialist (CCPS) and a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT), I bring a dual perspective to this work. I understand both the trauma of betrayal and the compulsive cycles of sexual behavior that often precede it. I work with:

• Betrayed partners seeking clarity, validation, and post-traumatic growth
• Addicted or sexually compulsive partners seeking sobriety, accountability, and healthy intimacy
• Couples navigating the painful but possible process of healing together—at a pace that prioritizes safety and truth

To guide this process, I offer comprehensive assessments for both partners, including:
• Sexual addiction and compulsivity screening
• Betrayal trauma impact and attachment disruption
• Post-traumatic stress and relational trauma mapping

These tools don't just provide data—they offer direction. They help us understand your unique story and outline a healing path rooted in your needs and strengths.

I specialize in:
• Betrayal trauma healing for partners
• Therapeutic disclosure and preparation
• Couples recovery after infidelity or compulsive sexual behavior
• Navigating post-traumatic growth
• Healing intimacy wounds and sexual disconnection
• Differentiation and rebuilding trust
• Emotionally abusive patterns (gaslighting, narcissistic dynamics)
• Group therapy for betrayed partners
• Trauma-informed sex therapy
• Schema therapy for identity and relational healing
• Christian-integrated therapy (when requested)
• Discernment counseling

Clients often say I am both direct and deeply compassionate. I hold your story with sacred respect while helping you get clear on your next steps. I don't pathologize your survival strategies—I help you understand them, so you can move forward with purpose, not just pain.

-- What Sets My Work Apart --

I'm not just a therapist who specializes in this work—I'm someone who has lived it. Tal and I have been married over 30 years. We've raised two incredible daughters, built a practice together, and reclaimed a marriage that once felt unsalvageable.

Our clients tell us our approach feels both safe and challenging. We don't minimize pain. We don't use shame. And we don't offer fluffy advice. We help people walk through the debris—and rebuild lives rooted in truth, growth, and secure connection.

-- Available Intensives & Groups --

• SureFooted Therapeutic Partner Bi-Weekly Group
A trauma-informed, clinician-led recovery community for betrayed partners. Includes Teresa's full betrayal recovery curriculum + bi-weekly group processing. Build clarity, identity, and connection with guidance and support.

• Couples Intensives for Betrayal Recovery
2- to 4-day customized intensives designed to stabilize safety, support differentiation, and move toward trust-building and secure-functioning intimacy.

When betrayal has been discovered—or when it's gone years unaddressed—we find intensives function like time in the emotional ICU. These weekends offer concentrated support from Teresa, or from both Teresa and Tal, in a space where nothing you bring will shock us. You don't have to protect us from the truth.

Without the interruptions of daily life or the limitations of 50-minute sessions, this extended format allows couples to get grounded, set a new course, and begin rebuilding safety through a process that honors voice, choice, and relational power.

• DBL Couples E-Course taught by Tal & Teresa
An e-course used by couple clients of Tal or Teresa after disclosure or as a preventive step when entering therapy. Helps partners improve communication, emotional safety, and connection before betrayal patterns emerge.

• Full Therapeutic Disclosure Preparation & Support
APSATS- and IITAP-aligned support guiding partners through structured disclosure with safety, clarity, and compassion every step of the way.

-- Let's Begin With You --

Healing doesn't mean forgetting what happened or blindly trusting again.
It means getting clear on what you need, what you value, and what you will no longer carry alone.

Whether you stay in your relationship or not, your wholeness matters.
Your boundaries matter.
Your voice matters.

You don't have to figure it all out today.
But the next step you take might be one of the bravest.

You're not too much. You're not too broken. And you are not alone.
