Tara Beall-Gomes is a Licensed Professional Counselor (Connecticut), Licensed Mental Health Professional (Florida), National Certified Counselor, Certified School Counselor, CCPS, Sex Addiction Treatment Professional (SATP) and the founder of Grit and Grace Recovery, LLC, a trauma-informed therapy and consultation practice devoted to supporting individuals and families impacted by Betrayal Trauma, Sex and Porn Addiction, gaslighting, and relational abuse. Through Grit and Grace, Tara offers education, group support, and individual therapy designed to help clients reclaim safety, clarity, and a sense of self after relational harm. She also founded and manages Main Street Counseling, LLC, a Connecticut-based psychotherapy group practice established in 2011.
Specific to Betrayal Trauma, Tara is an APSATS-Certified Clinical Partner Specialist (CCPS), Sex Addiction Treatment Professional (SATP), Inner Child Recovery Specialist, and a Deconstructing Gaslighting Specialist. She is a Certified Restorative Justice Circle Keeper Practitioner CACIQUE INC and uses the practices in her work with her clients.
With a career that spans both private practice and public education—including 15 years as a practicing CT Certified School Counselor—Tara brings depth, warmth, and cultural humility to her work.
An active voice in her community, Tara serves on the Steering Committee for Justice Southbury, co-chairs Outreach and Programming, is a member of the Southbury Women's Club, S.M.A.R.T, Inc, the Local Prevention Council and the Greater Waterbury NAACP. As an active member in youth and education advocacy, Tara is an ongoing contributing Program Co-Developer & Advisory Board Member for Soulful Sydney Inc. where she advised and co-created an innovative, trauma-informed creative free wellness program for children living in homes with substance use disorder.
She has been an active contributor to past initiatives such as Tribury Reads Together, the Region 15 Equity and Inclusion Council, and the Region 15 LGBTQIA+ Parent Group. She also helps to coordinate the Justice Southbury Zoom Series and volunteers in her children's schools. In 2021, she ran for the Region 15 Board of Education, building meaningful connections throughout the district.
Tara is the proud mother of four and "bonus mom" to two adult children. She is married to a retired U.S. Navy Veteran who served for 24 years in the Subforce. Together, they have created a beautifully blended family rich in love, identity, and lived experience.
Outside of her work, you'll find Tara supporting local youth sports or operating what she calls the "Muber" Service (Mom Uber), or in her garden living the balance of grit, grace, and grounded connection she so passionately supports in others.
