James is a licensed clinician who has extensive experience in treating complex trauma, mental health disorders and addictions. He has also been an Executive Director and Clinical Director of both Mental Health and Addiction treatment centers, designing treatment programs that go to the core traumatic and neural issues to provide sustainable healing.
James is a certified professional in Trauma treatment , Problematic Intimacy and Sexual Issues treatment, and in treating Betrayal Trauma. He is also trained in the Early Recovery Couples Empathy Model (ERECEM) and is a Florida Qualified Supervisor for mental health professionals as well as a former State of Florida Supreme Court Certified Family Mediator.
James has been trained by Dr. Patrick Carnes (Founder of IITAP and author of The Betrayal Bond), Dr. Rob Weiss (Sex Addiction 101), Dr. Sheri Keffer (Intimate Deception), Carol Sheets (Unleashing Your Power: Moving Through the Trauma of Partner Betrayal and creator of the Early Recovery Couples Empathy Training Model), and Dr. Barbara Steffens (Founder of APSATS and author of Your Sexually Addicted Spouse; How partners Can Cope and Heal) in working with Betrayal Trauma, Sex Addiction and Problematic & Compulsive Sexual Behaviors.
As well as having been in practice since 2004, James lectures and teaches about Problematic & Compulsive Sexual Behavior, Love and Intimacy Issues, including Addiction, Process (aka Behavioral) Addictions, Attachment Disorders, ADHD, Intimacy Aversion/Avoidance, Complex Trauma and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
He is passionate about helping client re-story their childhood wounds using Inner Child & Archetype (Parts) work, and helping clients create their own “Loving Parent.”
He offer INDIVIDUAL consultation supervision (primary supervisor), DYAD consultation supervision, SMALL GROUP consultation supervision, and SPECIALTY THEMED consultation supervision (upon request/by arrangement).
