A 4-day training comprised of 2 days on an overview of the MPTM, and 2 days of applying the MPTM within faith/religious settings or with individuals of faith.
Mentorship groups - 4 hours following the completion of the training dates, focused on more specific application of the material and model in the specific setting.
PDF files of the training materials will be provided for all trainees, via email or available through Google Drive or Dropbox.
You will be provide a certificate of completion for completing the 4 days of training.
APSATS will ask that all attendees complete an evaluation of the training for purposes of reflection and for quality improvement of the program.
Registrant understands and agrees that all information taught and all materials provided are the intellectual property of APSATS and if referred to will be appropriately cited and with appropriate approvals from the APSATS board or its designee.
Registrant understands that this 4 day training does not lead to certification.
Registrant understand that by completing this they can identify themselves as having completed the 4 day APSATS - BTRL training.
APSATS will use Zoom for the 4 day training and for the mentorship groups. All attendees must have access via computer or tablet (phones are not adequate for this training) and agree to be in a quiet location, free from outside noise or interruptions, and to remain on camera throughout the training. If the attendees are together in one location for the training, they will avoid conversation or interruptions that might distract others. There will be at least three breaks per day (two 15-minute breaks, and one 45-minute lunch break).
SPEAKERS
Barbara Steffens, PhD, BCC, CCPC-S Founding President, Director Emeritus
Barbara has provided mental health counseling and coaching in diverse settings for over thirty years. She specializes in helping women recover from sexual betrayal and is a sought-after speaker and presenter on special issues related to partners of sexual addicts. She served as the founding President of a The Association for Partners of Sex Addicts Trauma Specialists (APSATS) from 2012 until she retired in February of 2019.
Aviva Kohl, LCSW-R, CCPS
Aviva has been a psychotherapist for over 30 years and has focused on partners and couples impacted by betrayal for over 10 years. In addition being a Certified Clinical Partner Specialist she is also trained in various modalities including ERCEM ( Early Recovery Couples Empathy Model), Narrative Exposure Therapy and KAP( Ketamine assisted Psychotherapy). Her past experience teaching Jewish philosophy at Neve Jerusalem College makes her well equipped to help clients navigate the intersection between psychology and religion. She has a special interest in increasing awareness about the traumatic impact of betrayal from problematic sexual behavior on couples and families within the Jewish community.
