Professional training for Certified Clinical Partner Specialists and Certified Clinical Partner Coaches, which began in Dallas, moves to Los Angeles in Februrary 2014. The advanced training is part of the certification process for therapists and coaches to specialize in helping infidelity survivors and partners of sex addicts heal from sex addiction induced trauma. It is conducted by the Association of Partners of Sex Addicts Trauma Specialists (APSATS), the first and, currently, only organization specifically dedicated to advocating for the treatment needs of partners.
Participants are grounded in use of the Multidimensional Partner Trauma Model, a trauma-based approach to conceptualizing and treating sex addiction induced trauma. This trauma model was developed by the APSAT founding members in strong collaboration with Dr. Omar Minwalla. The partner trauma model not only focuses on partner of sex addict healing but also encourages a faster and deeper healing of relationships impacted by sex or pornography addiction.
In continued effort to respond to partner treatment needs, direct input from recovering partners, and recovering sex and porn addicts, is needed. APSATS is currently seeking your participation in a survey about discovery and disclosure trauma. The survey is very brief and results will be included in the LA professional training.
